Everyone is on social media nowadays. As with anything, social media has its pros and cons. It can bring out the worst in peopleunfiltered language from users can lead to hurt feelings, arguments, and in extreme cases, cyberbullying. However, the medium isn’t all bad. We can spread love and light through the dark parts of social media too.

When Jesus walked the earth, the disciples followed and spread His Word through meetings on the street. Now, we can talk to one another without even being the same room. In today’s world, we have telephones, FaceTime, text messages, and social media. We spend so much time on social media that we can spread the Word of the Lord without even leaving our homes.

There are influencers on social media that talk about different topics or products that their followers care about. People listen to what influencers have to say because they are looked up to, or are seen as experts. Why can’t we be influencers for God? As Christians, we should be spreading the Word of God to our neighbors. We can spread the Gospel through Facebook or Twitter. Without God’s Word, we are lost and so are our followers. With that Word, God gives us saving faith in Jesus Christ. What great news that we get to share with our neighbors!

Here are some ways to spread the Word of the Lord through social media:

  • Share your own blog or articles about the Word of the Lord
  • Share inspirational Bible verses that have helped you or will help your followers
  • When sharing the Word, incorporate the Law and the Gospel to bring home God’s message for others

Religion is seen as a taboo and something that shouldn’t be talked about, especially online. Spreading the Christian faith to those you encounter on the internet can be beneficial. We can show people that even though we make mistakes, God has forgiven our sins! He died so that we may be with Him in heaven—that deserves to be “liked and shared on everyone’s Facebook feed!

How do you spread the Word of God to others?
