book-giving

Back in March of this year, we posted about our partnership with Christ Community Lutheran Church Leesburg and their child development center, Leesburg Open Arms (LOA). In this partnership, Concordia Gospel Outreach donated Bibles to LOA. These Bibles greatly blessed the children and teachers there, so when Pastor Garet Ellis reached out to us with an update on how the Word of God is moving through this congregation, we knew we had to share what your generous donations made possible.

Growing Bible Study

The Leesburg Open Arms Child Development Center was able to start and cultivate an after-school Bible study with the Bibles provided. “We appreciate being able to hear the children ask inquisitive questions about their faith and God,” says Pastor Ellis. Parents of children in the program are also happy that their kids have the opportunity to participate in Bible study with their peers. The weekly program teaches about the love of Christ and helps the children start learning how to read the Bible.

We know that faith is a lifelong journey. Partnering with LOA and their children’s ministry has allowed us to be a small part of that journey for the children who come through their doors.

Back to School

As mentioned in the previous post on LOA, the organization was planning on breaking ground for a new education center and worship space. This year, LOA planned a back-to-school event for their school and new congregation. Books and Bibles provided by CGO were used as giveaways for the children and adults in attendance. The event had over sixty attendees who were each given a Bible or a Bible story book that the church had purchased.

The back-to-school event was crucial for Christ Community and LOA, as two weeks later, they would launch their congregation in their new worship space.

“Your donation of books and Bibles allowed us to be a blessing to our school, our new congregation, and our community,” Pastor Ellis says.

We know that the Word of God is living and active (Hebrews 4:12), and we pray that each member of this new congregation is shaped by Christ through His Word. Pastor Ellis echoes our feelings when he says, “We are excited for all that God is doing in Leesburg and cannot wait to see what He does next.”

We could not do this without your generous donations. Through your gifts to Concordia Gospel Outreach, we are able to fulfill the needs of churches like Christ Community in Leesburg.
